Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Every business owner wants their website to be at the top of the search engine rankings.
The top result on the Google search results page will receive on average 40% of the clicks, the second result will get just above half that number (26%), the third around 14% and so on.
Your website needs to get to the top of the search results and that requires two things – SEO and Internet Marketing.
What is SEO?
SEO is all about making sure each page on your website is fully optimised to achieve a particular goal.
Mostly the goal will be to rank high for a particular keyword or key phrase and this will likely mean beating the existing top ranking websites (your competition).
Other goals may be to get a visitor to buy a product, sign up to a mailing list or contact you. This particular type of SEO is called Conversion Rate Optimization or CRO for short.
SEO not as straight forward as adding a list of keywords to your web page. In fact, keyword-loading can have a negative effect and your website may be penalised by search engines. This is called “Black Hat SEO“.
Having good, well written and optimized copy (content) on your website is crucial for your website success but SEO alone may not be enough to overtake those top-spot competition websites.
Optimizing your existing website content may not be sufficient to give you an edge over your online competitors, especially of you are trying to get the top spot for search results.
Perhaps your competition have more content on their website, engage heavily in social media or run regular offers.
You need an Internet Marketing campaign to boost your business’ online awareness increasing the amount of traffic to your website.
Internet Marketing campaigns are run and managed over several weeks and often involve: Google AdWords, Facebook Ads, Blogging, Tweeting, Email Newsletters, Special Offers, and Website Content Creation.
